Produce 25,000 copies of a 64-page brochure, in two versions, displaying the Autumn/Winter collection for Washington Green, the UK’s largest fine art publisher. The brochure is delivered to Washington Green’s own retail outlets and their trade partners. It needed to reflect key artists as well as provide informative and interesting news about the art world.
We have worked with Washington Green for the last 10 years and in that time Fine Art Collector has evolved but for this issue we gave it a completely new look and feel with more editorial features and a luxurious ‘soft touch’ laminated cover with spot UV.
The client briefed us on the editorial pieces to be commissioned, which we did using copywriters who have previously worked on this publication. Once the flat plan was finalised, we set to work laying out the pages, adapting the design and layout to reflect the content – our experienced designer has been working on this project for many years and knows what the client likes to see.
When sections were completed – the client had a chance to review the design and the copy – with the odd tweak made here and there. This job requires excellent attention to detail and is produced to tight deadlines as it needed to be ready straight after the collection debut – and last minute decisions regarding the collection can mean we are required to alter things right up to the print deadline.
When approved and sent off to print, we set to work on producing clear and detailed delivery instructions to ensure the right quantity of the right version are delivered to the correct address. Needless to say, this element of the job is as important as producing the booklet.
